THE MAIN POINT

A specific closure, two separate checks: the main journey and the final property approach. Plan a viewing or quotation without assumed travel times.

01

The news and its scope

Antioquia’s government announced an eight-day closure on 27 October for work on the Sajonia 2 bridge, scheduled to last until 3 November. It affects the connection between the Sajonia dual carriageway, Variante Palmas and the Santa Elena road. The official statement 1 distinguishes this movement from travel towards Medellín through the Túnel de Oriente, which it says remains unchanged. Check the source again before travelling: this article reports the announcement, rather than providing live traffic verification.

For someone arranging a land viewing, the useful question is whether their itinerary actually uses the affected connection. An announcement about Sajonia does not describe every road in eastern Antioquia or establish that a property is cut off. We suggest preparing at two levels: check the main journey, then separately confirm the final approach to the property. The recommendations below are our method for organising a viewing; they are not part of the official traffic instructions.

02

Which movement should you check first?

The statement describes a diversion using Sajonia 1 bridge and a turn before the toll plaza to continue towards Santa Elena or Variante Palmas. It also asks drivers heading towards Medellín through the tunnel to keep right and follow signs and traffic controllers. It gives no opening hours, delay estimates or vehicle-specific restrictions. We have not filled those gaps with assumptions. A scheduled end date is also different from a subsequent announcement confirming reopening.

Before confirming an appointment, give the owner or agent your starting point, destination and direction of travel. Ask for the meeting point and whether the suggested journey uses this movement. Save any directions with their date, while also retaining the original link: an old screenshot can continue circulating after arrangements have changed. Do not assume that instructions for the outward journey also answer questions about the return trip.

Agree a practical alternative for the viewing

Imagine comparing two plots on the same day. Our suggestion is to confirm both meeting points first, then agree an arrival window with each person. If information about one approach is missing, adjusting the schedule is more useful than promising an arrival time based on an unchecked journey estimate. We are not publishing additional travel minutes: these would depend on the route, timing and conditions we have not observed.

An alternative could be a different appointment, an initial video conversation or receiving documents before travelling. It need not mean taking an unfamiliar secondary road. Before accepting a suggested alternative route, ask who knows it and what vehicle it is intended for. Commercial directions to a viewing are not a road-safety assessment or permission to enter private tracks. Agree what happens if you cannot reach the meeting point, rather than improvising at the entrance.

04

Check the final approach separately

Even when the main corridor is operating, you still need to understand the journey from the reference road to the plot. Ask the seller to describe the entrance, gate, parking location and any section to be covered on foot. Find out whether someone can accompany you. Record which sections you have personally seen and which you know only from someone else’s description. This helps prevent an incomplete visit from later being remembered as a check of the whole approach.

Keep those arrangements separate from questions about access documents. A vehicle reaching the plot on one day does not itself answer questions about use of the track, maintenance or agreements with neighbours. Our guide to road access for rural land helps organise those questions. It is a preparation resource, not a determination of an individual property’s legal position; the temporary diversion does not establish a private right of way.

If you are also obtaining a prefab home quotation

A car journey and a materials delivery are different operations. Before putting an installation date into your budget, ask the supplier to identify the checks needed to plan transport. We do not infer from this closure that trucks or modules are prohibited, or that they can pass: the statement we read does not settle those scenarios. The relevant operating conditions need confirmation with those responsible and with the supplier.

Frame the quotation around specific questions: which route is being priced, what information is missing before it can be validated, who checks unloading arrangements and when the schedule would be reviewed if access changes. Ask for confirmed amounts to be distinguished from items still awaiting assessment. The building project planner can help organise these dependencies, without replacing technical assessment of transport, the site or the proposed home itself.

What should an owner explain in a listing?

If you are offering land, review how you describe proximity and accessibility when answering enquiries. Explaining the starting point for a journey reference and the approach you mean is more useful than promising a fixed travel time. If sharing this notice, explain that it concerns a particular movement and announced dates. A temporary alert should not become a permanent description of the property, whether favourable or unfavourable.

If the viewing is postponed, use the time to prepare property information: a location you can appropriately share, available documents, outstanding questions and viewing arrangements. Our guide to checks before buying land can structure that conversation. Keep documentary evidence, observations made on site and claims in a listing separately labelled. They answer different questions, and certainty about one does not automatically resolve the others.

A short record for your next decision

Prepare a record with five fields: when you checked the official notice, the connection you would use, the confirmed meeting point, the final approach still needing a check and the person responsible for the next confirmation. Link each uncertainty to a decision. Uncertainty about arrival might justify moving the appointment; uncertainty about the property may require additional documents even when the drive is straightforward. The file then records decisions rather than merely accumulating links.

Our next editorial check will look for an operational update and confirmation of reopening. Until then, the dates remain those scheduled in the 27 October announcement. We have not driven the diversion, measured delays or inspected properties. The purpose of this report is to help readers organise a viewing and ask precise questions, without treating public roadworks as evidence about an individual property or its specific access arrangements.
